Sincer, dacă nu este o țesătură pe care nu o port în mod normal, nu citesc niciodată etichetele. Uneori, cu toții avem nevoie doar de o pauză de la realitate și de ceva timp pentru a ne bucura de soare. Cauți o vacanță unică și relaxantă? Care este vacanța ta ideală? Poate că faci rucsac în jurul Europei, camping în pădure sau poate este o croazieră? Atunci s-ar putea să doriți să vă urcați la bordul acestei nave pirat cunoscută sub numele de Alila Purnama. Așteptați până când citiți despre această uimitoare vacanță pe corabiei piraților. Cu siguranță vei dori să vezi asta!

Cuplul bogat din Jakarta care a construit această navă unică intenționa să facă o călătorie de doi ani pe ea, dar a ajuns să o predea grupului Hotel Alila pentru a naviga pe Oceanul Indian.

În 1928, toate bibliotecile publice din Chicago au interzis Vrăjitorul din Oz din cauza influenței sale „nelegiuite” „pentru a descrie femei în roluri puternice de conducere”. Tot în 1957, Biblioteca Publică din Detroit a interzis cartea pentru că „nu are nicio valoare pentru copiii de astăzi”.

Charlie și fabrica de ciocolată au fost interzise în Colorado pentru „filozofie săracă a vieții”. Din 1964, cartea a fost criticată pentru compararea Oompa Loompas cu africanii. Descrierile personajelor au fost ulterior modificate într-o versiune editată în 1988.

Green Eggs And Ham a fost interzis în California pentru acuzații de „seducție homosexuală”. De asemenea, a fost interzis în China pentru „marxismul timpuriu” din 1965 până la moartea doctorului Seuss în 1991.

În 1989, un district școlar din California a interzis The Lorax și a susținut că „a criminalizat industria forestieră”.

În 2006, Charlotte’s Web a fost interzis în Kansas, deoarece animalele care vorbesc sunt considerate o „insultă la adresa lui Dumnezeu”.

Bridge To Terabithia – În 1996, a fost scos din mai multe săli de clasă din Pennsylvania din cauza „obscenității, lipsei de respect pentru adulți și a unei lumi fantastice elaborate care ar putea duce la confuzie”. Cartea a fost, de asemenea, interzisă de alte școli pentru utilizarea expresiilor „O, Doamne” și „Doamne”.

Jurnalul Annei Frank – Această carte a fost interzisă de mai multe ori. Cel mai recent, în mai 2013, o mamă din Michigan a încercat să obțină interzicerea cărții din cauza „tendințelor sale pornografice”.

Au făcut o treabă destul de bună cu unitatea USB.

Sunt multe cuvinte. Ai crede că decoratorul de tort i-ar fi chemat să verifice.

Sheri cu un ochi. Ei bine, asta este încă greșit! Ar trebui să fie Sheri cu un I!

Ce ai face dacă ai ridica o prăjitură și ar avea una dintre aceste erori? Probabil că aș face exact ceea ce au făcut acești oameni – faceți o poză și postați-o online!

Îl iubesc absolut pe John Malkovich. Este ciudat, amuzant și un actor grozav. Când aceste poze au fost publicate, știam că va fi de văzut!

Ca parte a unei expoziții numite Malkovich, Malkovich, Malkovich: Omagiu maeștrilor fotografici, fotograful Sandro Miller l-a chemat pe vechiul său prieten John Malkovich să-l ajute să onoreze fotografi care l-au inspirat. Rezultatul este destul de grozav.

Vedeți nu numai imaginile originale, ci și imaginile de după cu John Malkovich înlocuind persoana originală. Veți ști exact de ce este atât de genial după ce vă uitați la aceste imagini minunate.

Aceste imagini sunt destul de potrivite! Este cu adevărat impresionant.

We all dream of someday owning our perfect home. A home full of love and built to suit us as individuals. We all have different desires when it comes to the perfect home, making homes across the world unique in their own way. Personalizing something generic makes us attached and makes it our own. It gives us a sense of pride and excitement. A home with a personal touch is a home we look forward to returning to. A house with a personal touch immediately becomes a home. One guy found a little place that no one wanted to call their home. In fact, it had been abandoned for quite some time. He had a vision though and knew that underneath the rot and decay was some hidden potential. What he did to the decrepit house was nothing short of incredible. Take a look at his journey to turn a dilapidated structure into a beautiful home. This is the ultimate build. What an amazing remodel.

After months of negotiating for this bank owned property, he was able to purchase this old dingy house for only 40 thousand dollars.

The reason he got it for so cheap was because nobody wanted the property. The house was a mess and every single inch needed attention. He started by completely gutting the place. Everything but the wall studs were taken out.

The layout of the place was very confining. He teamed up with an engineer and spent $200 in order to draw up plans to give the structure an open living space. They had to move support beams and load bearing walls to achieve this.

The main support beams were very heavy but with the help of some friends he was able to place them per city code.

The house had an old addition that was rotting and sagging away from the main structure. With no way to make this space a comfortable room, he decided to tear it down to build a little awning over a backyard porch.

He spent every second of his free time working on this project. Every day after work, he was there until dark. On the weekends, he was working on his dream from sunrise until late after sundown. It must have been exhausting.

With the structure up, the inspector required more joists due to the span. He was within code, however when it comes to building inspectors you must choose your battles wisely. He happily agreed to reenforce the structure.

Next step was roof demolition. He also found that all the fascia was rotted so he had to tear that down to be replaced also.

He rented a paint sprayer from Home Depot to paint the new fascia. He did this before he laid the shingles down so he didn’t have to mask in order to paint. That meant more work on a list that was already a mile long.

He hired two laborers and with their help he was able to complete the roof in one weekend. It turned out beautiful and should last at least 50 years.

The house was in dire need of new plumbing with rot and leaks everywhere. He left this up to the professionals and the entire house was lined with brand new shiny copper pipes and best of all, no leaks!

The same goes for the duct work. He let the professionals handle the heating and cooling. This is quite important in Arizona due to the extreme heat during the summer months.

The old cast iron windows were leaking and offered zero insulation value. With the help of a laborer,  he managed to replace 8 windows in 8 hours.

It was a tedious process but it was also his favorite part of this project. They had a system down and quickly got the hang of replacing the old heavy windows.

The new windows look great and accent the fascia nicely. They also offer great insulation and UV protection.

With a solid roof over his head, he began the drywall and insulation process. This is a dirty job.

When working with insulation you need to wear gloves, a mask, eye protection, and long sleeves and pants. Even covered from head to toe, there is no avoiding the itching that follows with this work. But it needs to be done and done right.

Once the drywall was hung, the taping and mudding began. This went well into the night.

And began at the crack of dawn.

While the interior work was underway, he hired a stucco company to refinish the entire exterior.

Once the stucco dries, it will be ready for a color of his choice. Below you can see the added joists the inspector asked him to set in place.

The stucco was complete, updating the exterior of what will soon be a home.

The electrical system was outdated and considered unsafe. With the help of two electrician buddies, he replaced the whole electrical system including a new and updated main panel. This was passed off by the inspector the first time around.

With the drywall in place and smooth as a baby’s bottom, he was able to start installing the kitchen cabinetry. He went with a simple yet bold design.

Which turned out beautiful. I’m in love with that hood.

The countertops are stunning.

None of this has come easy. He spent long and exhausting nights working towards his vision.

There was a slightly awkward and unusable space that he filled with a tall wardrobe closet matching the style of the home perfectly.

With new walls and new drywall came new trim work. The cuts had to be perfect to line up down the hallway symmetrically.

This also meant a new and updated bathroom. Due to some improper advice from a hardware store employee, he ran into a bit of a problem. He attached the bright white subway tiles to a waterproof green board backing. After almost a year of living in and building this project the tile started to fail, crack and leak. Not everything can go perfectly.

This lead to bathroom demolition number two.

After the mess was cleaned up and the studs were left for a few days to dry, he had to change-up the installation process to prevent this problem in the future. Luckily, there was no mold present during this.

He used a cement backer board this time around which will definitely provide the structural stability required.

He covered everything in redguard which will keep the water where it belongs… down the drain.

After seeing the white subway tiles in place, he decided to take a different design approach that better suited the style he was after.

He also decided to add a beautiful glass door to open the room a little more.

With the main dirty work done, he was then able to add brand new carpet.

With the interior details wrapping up, the exterior color was a long debate.

The color he decided on scared him to death. He was happy with it on a small space but was worried he had made a bad decision when he covered the entire house. He was reassured by his girlfriend that he made the right choice and after a few weeks it grew on him. He decided that in the end it was the best color for the style of decor that went with the home.

With the home complete he was able to focus his attention on the yard and landscaping. There were two giant Dutch elm trees in the front yard that were dying. He tried for months to revive the trees but they were too far gone. He ended up taking them down offering a better view of the newly remodeled home.

He now had a clean slate to work with.

Sod was delivered and he knew he had a tiring job ahead. He was so close to finishing that he was motivated to get it done.

The sod was installed bringing this project closer to the finish! It looks beautiful.

Planters were filled and colorful plants were set in place adding a personal touch.

Lots of flowers.

He decided to replace the trees with young ones that he could care for. They were young, just like the newly remodeled house.

The backyard was the last part of the project.

He had to haul truck loads of garbage and debris to the dump before he could start making it his own.

He had some plans drawn up and decided against the oversized pavers to the right.

He had concrete curbing poured at roughly 2 dollars a foot separating parts of the yard and adding character.

He added the barn styled shed of his dreams to store all his yard tools.

And here you go! The final project was completed and here it is in all his glory. This once distraught, abandoned property is now a beautiful home with a new personality.

I love what he did with the interior design as well. I imagine his girlfriend helped with this aspect.

The hardwood dining table was built by his girlfriend’s 79-year-old grandfather. He says the craftsmanship is the best he’s ever seen.

This is an impressive project to take on, to say the least. He got the property for an amazing deal and with a lot of time, effort, and money he was able to build his dream home. The end result is incredible and this is now a place that any family would be proud to call home. I commend him on his efforts and constructing a quality home that will stand the test of time. When you think of the perfect little town to live in, what town comes to mind? I think of a picturesque small town surrounded by huge trees and mountains. It also has beautiful blue skies and nicely manicured lawns. I think of small mom and pop stores ran by the citizens of the community, where people enjoy helping each other. The town would have a nice library, grocery store, and a hospital as well as the other conveniences we have come to rely on. There is such a place and it is beautiful. It’s a small town on the northeastern coast of British Columbia, Canada. The name of this almost perfect town is Kitsault, B.C. I say almost perfect because one very important part of this town is missing. The most important part in fact, the people. Kitsault B.C. is a town with a very unique story. A sad story that is fading away like the fall leaves that cover the grounds before winter.

Kitsault, British Columbia was founded and built by the U.S. mining conglomerate, Phelps Dodge in 1979.

The town was built to sustain a mining operation for molybdenum, which is a metal used in steel production.

At its peak the town housed over 1,200 residents, and had a hospital, a sports center, a theater, and a grocery store with the promise of growth and prosperity.

Only 18 months after the town was opened, the price of molybdenum crashed and residents were forced to leave.

Phelps Dodge purchased the homes back from the residents and asked them to leave. Some were forcefully removed from their new homes, and the once booming town was seemingly closed over night.

Everything was simply abandoned, as it would have been more expensive to sell it off than to just leave it behind.

The books were even left on the shelves of the library.

As you can see, everything was left as is.

Everything was in perfect order, but they are just missing the people.

After the last person left the town, it was completely vacant. However, somebody left the power on. The power has been on for nearly 30 years and the town sits very well-preserved waiting for its residents to return.

This looks like a hallway in a school.

Due to the lack of funds, people were only able to pack up their personal belongings. Everything else was left behind.

Mailboxes were left vacant and empty.

I wonder what building this was taken in. It is so weird seeing a perfectly preserved building, sitting there empty.

You have to follow a long dirt road to enter the town which still stands in the middle of nowhere.

Everything is covered in late 1970’s decor and the names of the champions are still written in chalk on a board in the sports center.

The town’s backdrop is one anyone would be envious of. The place is stunning!

Kitsault has 94 homes, 200 apartments, a hospital, a shopping mall, a movie theater, a town & country restaurant, and a sports center.

All the homes were left completely vacant.

With the homes and structures being only 3 years old at the time of vacancy, they are all in very good condition to this day.

There must be quite an eerie feeling walking down the streets of Kitsault.

But I would love to live in a place like this!

An empty playground outside the school was once full of little children having a great time.

Not even a year after this plaque was made, the town was closed.

The electricity still lights the town up at night.

Everything in Kitsault was purchased brand new and just sits deteriorating now.

Can you imagine 1200 people just up and leaving after only 3 years?

Even at the end of a dock in the bay, sits a lonely boat tied up waiting for its driver.

The old refining plant that sparked the construction of this town sits empty and unproductive.

Over 200 apartments without residents.

Even the town center which provided phenomenal views of the surrounding landscape looks as if it’s ready to move in and start a party.

The bridge to Kitsault once had hundreds of cars a day crossing and now it’s a rare sight to see this bridge in use.

Kitsault went up for sale in 2004 and was purchased for $5 million dollars. Canadian entrepreneur and businessman Krishnan Suthanthiran purchased the town sight unseen. He had just found an article in the newspaper and sent a check.

He had hopes of turning the town into a sort of retreat for intellectuals, scientists, and doctors to work together.

The town was to be opened in 2011 but things have since changed.

There are talks about opening a natural gas plant in Kitsault but that would require an investment of $30 billion to get off the ground.

The plan is still open, as investors are sought after for this large venture.

The housing and infrastructure are already in place and something needs to happen to breathe life back into this beautiful town.

It is tragic that this beautiful little place on earth was left abandoned but at least there are talks of revamping this little town. With so much character and such a beautiful landscape, it would sure be a shame to leave it all alone to rot.

Looking at the photographs and understanding the memories of this town, it is hard not to hope that this wasted land gets put to good use. A great opportunity for people to start their lives. Hopefully Kitsault has a better future than the island town, Holland Island, that eventually sunk to the bottom ocean.
