Fitting a TV to the wall: A step-by-step guide
Find the studs
After choosing the best location for the bracket on the wall, you must identify the studs to fix it securely. If you fit your TV wall bracket with the studs, it will have the necessary structural stability to support a TV. Because the weight of the TV mount is too much for the plasterboard alone to support, you must fasten it to the studs.
Using a cheap stud finder or other methods to find the stud position is a straightforward way to locate the studs. To establish how many studs you need to locate, measure the mounting points on the TV bracket. For the majority, it will consist of two studs—one on each side, one on each side. It can require a span of three studs, depending on the characteristics of your walls and your preferred TV mount. With a pencil, you can lightly outline where the studs are located on the wall.
Mark the hole position
The specific placement of the wall screw holes must then be indicated. The best way to ensure that these marks are even between the two studs and that the quantity won’t be slanted is to use a level. You have two options for marking the locations for the pilot holes: either tape paper over the desired mounting position and use a pencil to mark the wall itself, a pre-printed template or both your markings.
Double-check the bracket position
Once you’ve made your marks, it’s time to mount the bracket to the wall. Place the bracket against the wall flat and align the first designated hole with one of the screw locations. Maintaining that position, adjust the other side of the bracket so that it aligns with the second hole as necessary. When the mount is aligned with the anticipated pilot holes, use a level to confirm that it is level.
Drill pilot holes
You must drill pilot holes through the wall in the right locations using a drill.
Mount the wall bracket
After the pilot holes have been drilled, the wall bracket will be fastened with the mounting screws that are included. Use a power drill, screwdriver, or ratchet to drive the wall screws into the studs to fix the bracket to the wall securely
Generally speaking, the mounting plate shouldn’t move or rattle, and the screws should be tight enough to secure the bracket firmly on the plasterboard. You have overtightened if the screws are poking through the plasterboard or the bracket is distorting in any manner.
You are well past halfway through TV mounting when the wall bracket is positioned correctly.
Attach the TV mounting plate
The mounting plate will next be fastened to the TV. This second piece of the TV mount, which joins the wall bracket after first fastening it to the back of the TV, is used to mount the TV on the wall. Depending on the type of mount you’re using, the two sections can be connected using a simple clip, a rail system, or even an extended arm.
Match the mounting holes on the back of the TV chassis with the mounting holes on the TV mounting plate. With the help of a screwdriver, fasten the mounting plate to the TV by using the screws that ought to have been included with your TV mount.
Avoid over tightening the screws at all costs to avoid damaging the TV chassis or stripping the screw heads, both of which can seriously complicate installing (or later unmounting) the TV. A good rule of thumb is to turn the screw a quarter turn after it is snugly holding the bracket against the chassis.
Connect the TV mounting plate to the wall bracket
All that is needed to do is join the two now that the wall bracket and TV mounting plate are both firmly in place. To lower the TV and attach the bracket and plate, raise it to the right height or just above where it is supposed to be.
Others will employ attachments that may clip or screw into place. In certain cases, This will be a plug-and-play connector with safety screws that can be increased after installation. To secure the plate to the bracket, use the included equipment to refer to the TV mount’s instructions.
Be careful when lifting the TV, and be sure you grasp it by the outside bezels rather than the glass. Avoid grabbing or pressing on the screen at all costs because this can easily ruin the display.
You can allow the bracket to hold the weight of the TV once the object has been securely fastened.
Reconnect the TV
At this point, all that needs to be done is to re-plug the TV and any other devices that might still need to be powered on. After that is over, you can relax and take in the newly mounted TV.
